Jon Lester Bounces Back with Strong Outing Against Rays

Jon Lester pitched much better in his 2nd start of the spring.  Even though the Red Sox ended up losing to the Tampa Rays 8-6, Lester shined during his 2 2/3 innings pitched.  He gave up just 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 1 walk.  Lester also struck out 4 batters on the day.  [...]

Mike Cameron & Adrian Beltre Geared up for Spring Training 2010

Adrian Beltre and Mike Cameron are finally getting a glimpse of what it’s like to be an integral part of Red Sox Nation.  Each player is extremely excited to be in Fort Myers and to start getting things going for the 2010 MLB schedule.
Beltre has this to say about reporting to camp: “I’m pretty excited.  [...]

Red Sox, Hermida Agree to 1-Year, $3.345 Million Deal

GM Theo Epstein kept his streak intact – by signing Jeremy Hermida to a 1-year deal today, Epstein & Co. will make it 8 straight years without going to arbitration with any player.  Hermida was the final arbitration-eligible Red Sox player still looking for his 2010 deal.
Hermida will back up the Red Sox starting trio [...]

Jeremy Hermida Looking Forward to 2010 MLB Schedule

Jeremy Hermida is looking forward to the 2010 MLB schedule for the Red Sox.  With the off-season signing of Mike Cameron, Hermida now knows that Cameron will play center field, Jacoby Ellsbury will play left field in front of Fenway’s Green Monster and J.D. Drew will play right field.  He also knows that because of [...]

Mike Cameron to Play Center; Jacoby Ellsbury to Play Left

The Boston Red Sox and Manager Terry Francona announced how the outfield will look in 2010.  With the signing of veteran center fielder Mike Cameron a few weeks ago, the Red Sox though it best to keep Cameron in center field once he joins the Red Sox.  Cameron is a 3-time Gold Glove winner in [...]

Closure on Bay Front – Slugger Signs with Mets

At least he isn’t in the AL.  Jason Bay signed with the New York Mets today, bringing some closure to the Red Sox pursuit of the free agent slugger.  Bay played a great year and a half for the Red Sox, but his age and the dollar amount desired proved too much for the Red [...]

Jason Bay Update – Sort of…

As we reported over the weekend, the Red Sox have considered making another run at Jason Bay to play left field in front of the Green Monster at Fenway Park.  With the new $15.5 million Mike Cameron deal and J.D. Drew still on the books at $14 million per season for the next 2 seasons, [...]

Jacoby Ellsbury Named Defensive Player of Year

Jacoby Ellsbury was named the Defensive Player of the Year for 2009.  Ellsbury made just 2 errors in 2009 – the first 2 errors of his career.  He has a career fielding percentage of .997.  Pretty impressive.
Congrats Jacoby – you deserve it!

Mixed Boat with John Lackey

With the 5-year, $82.5+ million deal on the books with John Lackey, the Red Sox have answered the call made by the New York Yankees in 2008 when they signed both CC Sabathia and A. J. Burnett off the free agent market.  Sabathia and Burnett combined to win 32 games for the Yankees in 2009 [...]

Red Sox Keep Adding Pieces – Mike Cameron Onboard

The Boston Red Sox keep adding pieces to the puzzle, signing Mike Cameron to a 2-year deal worth around $15.5 million.  Seems a bit much for a soon-to-be 37-year old center fielder, but he will be patroling left field in front of the Green Monster, a good indication that the Red Sox don’t think they [...]
