Red Sox Agree with Jacoby Ellsbury; Still Far Apart with Big Papi – Fenway Park 1/18/12

The Red Sox and Jaocby Ellsbury agreed to a 1-year, $8.05 million deal for the 2012 MLB season, thereby avoiding arbitration.  Ellsbury had a monster 2011 and deserved the big raise from his “modest” $2.4 million salary. On the other side of the spectrum, however, the Red Sox and David Ortiz are still $4 million [...]

Red Sox Trio Win Silver Slugger Awards – Ellsbury, Gonzalez & Ortiz – Fenway Park 11/3/11

It’s been a good week for Jacoby Ellsbury & Adrian Gonzalez.  After each won a Gold Glove Award earlier this week, they each nabbed Silver Slugger Awards too.  David Ortiz was also named a Silver Sluggers Award recipient to round out the trio. What a great week – Go Sox!

Ellsbury, Gonzalez, Pedroia Win Gold Glove Awards – Fenway Park 11/2/11

Jacoby Ellsbury, Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia each won Gold Glove Awards on Tuesday.  The 28-year old Pedroia won his 1st ever AL Gold Glove Award for his defense in center field. Gonzalez won his 3rd Gold Glove Award for his play at 1st base.  He won with the Padres back in 2008 and 2009. [...]

Jacoby Ellsbury Wins Comeback Player of the Year Award – Will He Add MVP Trophy Too?! – Fenway Park 10/14/11

Given all the Francons/Epstein/Management issues the last few weeks, I thought I would focus on a “positive” today.  Jacoby Ellsbury won the AL comeback player of the year award yesterday and there is a lot to be thankful for with the improved play of Ellsbury. Ellsbury racked up a whopping 660 at-bats in 158 game [...]

Red Sox Hang On for 8-7 Win Over O’s, Stay Tied with Rays for Wild Card Lead – Fenway Park 9/27/11

Wow – that wasn’t fun.  The Red Sox held on for an 8-7 win over the O’s and stayed tied with the Rays for the Al Wild Card Lead.  Catcher Ryan Lavarnway – who has given the Red Sox a much-needed power boost behind the plate – homered twice in the win.  His 3-run bomb [...]

Beckett, Red Sox Lose Again – Free Fall Continues into Wild Card Tie with Rays – Fenway Park 9/26/11

Unbelievable – the O’s beat the Red Sox 6-3 on Monday pushing the Sox into a wild card tie with the Tampa Bay Rays with 2 games to play.  The Red Sox have now lost 17 of their last 22 games.  They led the Rays by 9 games when play started on September 3rd, but [...]

Sabathia, Yankees Top Red Sox in Ugly 5-2 Loss – Fenway Park 8/30/11

CC Sabathia survived 10 hits, 2 walks and 1 HBP in just 6 innings of work (129 pitches!) to help the Yankees top the Red Sox 5-2 at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.  Sabathia willed the Yankees to the win, largely in part to his 10 K’s. The Red Sox wasted numerous chances against the [...]

8-Run 8th Inning Propels Red Sox to 15-10 Win Over O’s – Fenway Park 7/19/11

Forget about being tired, the Red Sox slugged 16 hits and scored 15 runs, using an 8-run 8th inning to break a 7-7 tie en route to an easy win over the O’s.  Every Red Sox starter had a hit except for J.D. Drew.  Jacoby Ellsbury led off at the DH spot and had 3 [...]

Red Sox Players Have Little Impact in A.L.’s 5-1 Loss to N.L. in All-Star Game – Fenway Park 7/13/11

The Red Sox players had very little impact in the A.L.’s 5-1 loss to the N.L. in last night’s All-Star Game.  As we discussed yesterday, the Red Sox sent 6 players to the mid-summer classic. Adrian Gonzalez started at 1B and batted 3rd for the A.L. squad.  Gonzalez accounted for the lone A.L. run with [...]

Red Sox Send 6 to 2011 All-Star Game – Fenway Park 7/12/11

The Red Sox will have 6 representatives at tonight’s All-Star Game at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Adrian Gonzalez and David Ortiz were both voted in as starters to the A.L. squad. Josh Beckett and Jon Lester were named as pitching All-Stars, but since Lester is on the DL, he will not be pitching in [...]
