Mike Cameron & Adrian Beltre Geared up for Spring Training 2010

Adrian Beltre and Mike Cameron are finally getting a glimpse of what it’s like to be an integral part of Red Sox Nation.  Each player is extremely excited to be in Fort Myers and to start getting things going for the 2010 MLB schedule.

Beltre has this to say about reporting to camp: “I’m pretty excited.  It’s the first time I’ve put the uniform on and I’m excited to be part of the Boston Red Sox and hopefully, it will be a good season.”  Beltre will start for the Red Sox at 3rd base and he came to the Red Sox for the opportunity to win a title.  The Oakland A’s offered the slick-fielding 3rd baseman 3 guaranteed years, but it was more important for Beltre to be able to play for a contender right away even though the Red Sox only offered him 1 guaranteed year.

Cameron signed a 2-year deal with the Red Sox and is also looking forward to the chance to compete for a World Series title at the end of his career: “When I thought about that — having the opportunity to play in Boston pretty much at the end of my career, on a very good team, one of the teams with the opportunity to win the championship before the season begins, I had to take that really into consideration.  What more than to play for a really good baseball team and to have a chance to win the championship?  That doesn’t really happen for a lot of guys going into the season, saying that realistically as you look at it.”  Cameron will patrol center field for the Red Sox in 2010 along side Jacoby Ellsbury in left field.  That will make for one of the best outfield duos in the game today.

Both are healthy and primed for big years in Boston.  Let’s hope playing in hitter-friendly Fenway Park will also help their offensive numbers in 2010.  Should be fun to watch both of these guys play all season long…
