Time For Red Sox to Step Up Their Game at Fenway!

It’s been a dreaded start to the 2nd half of the seaosn, but it’s time for the Red Sox to step up their game as they stumble home in the midst of a 5-game losing streak. Losing 5 of 6 since the Break, coupled with the Yankees winning all 6 of their games after the Break, has the Red Sox staring at a 2-game deficit in the AL East. Reason to panic – not just yet, but the Red Sox need to right the ship sooner then later to avoid batttling it out with the Rays and Tigers/White Sox and Angels/Rangers for the AL wild card slot.
While the pitching has been average to poor, the hitting has been downright atrocious. The Red Sox have scored 4 runs only once after the break, and have been held to 2 runs or less in 4 of the 6 games. Not good at all.
The one bright spot – the Red Sox return home to Fenway Park where they have been an astounding 31-14 at home. Plus they get to play the Orioles and A’s – 2 teams that have struggled all season long and are well under .500 and out of playoff contention.
No pressure on Brad Penny – hah! The O’s are 12 games under .500 and a dismal 15-32 on the road. Nothing short of a weekend series sweep will be acceptable for Red Sox Nation…
